Itinerary

Avellino

Avellino is the land of great noble wines. Our tour allows access into the main wine cellars in the entire area, where the following three wines are produced: (1) The Greco di Tufo, an aristocratic wine that was first introduced by the Greeks from Thessaly. It’s straw-colored, golden yellow, pleasing and characteristic aroma, dry harmonic taste goes well with all dishes. (2) The Fiano, an antique wine from the Latin vitis apiana (as it attracts bees), very aromatic and can also be served as an aperitif. Yellow-straw colored, intense pleasant aroma and dry taste (similar to toasted hazelnuts) goes well with all fish based dishes. (3) The Taursi, was the first in Campania to be awarded the prestigious DOCG. It’s ruby, burgundy color and acquires orange reflections with aging, pleasing aroma, dry and aromatic taste goes well with lasagne, game, roasts, mushrooms and strong or seasoned cheeses.

Paestum

Unlike Pompeii and even Herculaneum, Paestum can often be deserted, the gleaming white marble ancient Greek temples that date back to the 6th century BC, set against the dark brown hills and deep blue sea, provide a uniquely Greek experience in Italy. Today, the preserved temple of Hera II (once believed to be the Temple of Poseidon) is one of three temples. (See also the temple of Hera I) Part of the interior is a colonnade with two rows of columns, including the superimposed upper level which supported the roof, therefore illustrates the standard Doric form: 6 columns on the end and 14 columns on the side. We recommend hiring a guide for the sites and visit an archaeological museum in the vicinity, with a rich collection of Greek art and antiquities.
